We bring together education, training and research sector professionals across education sectors.
We have approximately 117,000 members, and nine out of ten teachers have chosen to join OAJ.
Our union includes early childhood education, basic education, upper secondary school, vocational school, university of applied sciences, basic art education and liberal adult education and training teachers, the heads and principals of schools and educational institutions, education sector leaders and other experts and university lecturers.
Our members also include student teachers and retired teachers – OAJ’s advocacy work thus encompasses a broader life span than just the working career.
Where do our members work?
The majority of our members work in the municipal education sector. A significant proportion of vocational teachers work in the private sector and a small proportion work under government contracts.
Some members work abroad.
