Local associations and sub-associations

Becoming a member takes place through local associations or their sub-associations. There are close to 300 local associations in Finland and they are responsible for local advocacy.

Regional associations

Local associations and their sub-associations form regional organisations, of which there are seventeen in Finland. The regional organisations are responsible for regional advocacy, training and influencing.

National associations

The professional interests of different groups of teachers are monitored in OAJ’s national district organisations. The districts have their own national and local associations. In addition, pedagogical teacher unions function as associate members, developing the teaching of their subject and advocating for their subject.
