The negotiations regarding the private education sector between OAJ and the Finnish Education Employers were finalised last night as the parties were able to agree on a solution. At the same time, an agreement concerning teachers at adult education centres was reached. This solution applies to more than 8,000 members of the OAJ.
Historically, negotiations in the private sector were finished before the solution for the public sector. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the negotiations were prioritised and held from early morning to late at night during the past few days.
–It’s great that there is now a solution for the private eduction sector. With the teaching sector and publicly funded sectors leading the way, the rest of the on-going negotiations may also find solutions faster, which would bring more stability to the labour market,” says the OAJ President Olli Luukkainen.
The content of the agreement will be published only after the agreement parties’ administrations have gone over the solution. The OAJ Income and Payroll Policy Committee and the Executive Board will address the solution during their meetings on Thursday 26 March.
The Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL and the Federation of Public and Private Sector Employees Jyty are also parties to the agreement. All parties must accept the proposed negotiation result.
